The Cleveland Browns placed recently reinstated wide receiver Josh Gordon on the active/non-football injury list on Tuesday. Gordon, who passed a physical earlier in the day, injured his quadriceps while working out on his own, according to the team.

The Browns said that Gordon is expected to miss "at least a couple weeks" with the injury.

Speaking of injuries, Cleveland also announced that Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden was placed on the physically unable to perform list with an ailing ankle. The 27-year-old has reeled in 16 interceptions in six years with the club.

Gordon officially was added to the roster Tuesday, a day after being reinstated by the NFL on a conditional basis from a one-year suspension. He was scheduled to work out with rookies, quarterbacks and select veterans before full-squad workouts begin Friday.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus told ProFootballTalk that Gordon will be practicing -- and eventually playing -- with a purpose knowing he is out of chances. Gordon confirmed his mindset via Twitter on Monday night.

"I'm blessed and grateful to be granted this opportunity,'' he tweeted. "I can't wait to get back out there and play the game I love in front of the great fans of Cleveland. I want to thank the NFLPA, Commissioner Goodell, the Haslam family and Browns organization, my agent Drew Rosenhaus, as well as my mentors for their continuous support along the way.

"I've heard only good things from my teammates about the positive direction the organization is heading and I want to do everything I can to be there to help further that process not only for the team but to better myself as well. Thank you.''

To make room on the roster, the Browns waived defensive back A.J. Stamps.
