Detroit Lions sign free agent DE Quanterus Smith

The Detroit Lions signed free agent defensive end Quanterus Smith to a contract Wednesday.

Smith joins the Lions after spending the 2015 season on the practice squads of the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars. He began his NFL career with the Denver Broncos from 2013-14, where he appeared in 15 games.

Originally drafted by the Broncos in the fifth round (146 overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Western Kentucky, Smith has recorded 11 career tackles, including two tackles for loss, and two pass defenses.
