Colombian rider Jarlinson Pantano won the 15th stage of the Tour de France on Sunday as defending champion Chris Froome kept his yellow jersey lead.

Pantano outsprinted Rafal Majka of Poland to the finish line in Culoz, France, after riders made their way through the Jura mountains.

Froome finished slightly more than three minutes behind in a group, including his other main overall contenders.

Pantano and Majka were almost caught by Frenchman Alexis Vuillermoz, who finished third, six seconds back.

"It's a dream come true," Pantano said. "I had good feelings today, I knew that if I was able to join him in the downhill I had good chances. And in the end the best rider won."

The 31-year-old Froome, the 2013 and 2015 champion from Britain, kept his 1:47 overall lead over Dutch rider Bauke Mollema, with British rider Adam Yates in third place, 2:45 back, and Nairo Quintana of Colombia fourth, 2:59 behind.

American Tejay van Garderen dropped to eighth overall, 4:47 behind Froome.

The Tour ends next Sunday in Paris on the Champs Elysees.
