Draymond Green's pretial hearing moved up

Draymond Green won't have to go to the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro with the specter of a court hearing hanging over his head.

Green is accused of slapping former MSU football player Jermaine Edmondson early Sunday morning in East Lansing, Mich.

On Thursday, a judge agreed to hold Green's pretrial conference next week, before he for Rio, according to the Lansing State Journal.

Green originally was scheduled to have the hearing on Aug. 4

Green's lawyer explained it will be difficult to communicate with his client while he is in Brazil. In addition, the request to move up the hearing says legal proceedings could affect Green's performance.

"Publicity surrounding the arrest may affect his performance in the games," the request says.

Edmondson claimed in the police report that Green used an open-hand slap to his face during a confrontation at an East Lansing restaurant.

The exchange led to Green being arrested on assault charges. The 26-year-old' blood alcohol content was .10, according to a court document.

The maximum penalty Green could face if found guilty of the assault charge is a $500 fine and/or 90 days in jail.
