Cristiano Ronaldo will miss six to eight weeks with a left knee sprain suffered during Portugal's stunning 1-0 win over France in the UEFA Euro 2016 championship game Sunday, CBS Sports reported Monday night citing a foreign outlet.

The 31-year-old Portuguese forward could be out until mid-August, which would put him in jeopardy of missing the UEFA Super Cup with Real Madrid of the Spanish La Liga. Real Madrid faces Sevilla in the Cup on Aug. 9.

Ronaldo sustained the injury in the 17th minute of Sunday's match after banging knees with French midfielder Dimitri Payet before leaving the match. His substitute, Eder, scored the winning goal in the 109th minute to clinch the title.

In seven Euro 2016 matches, Ronaldo scored three goals -- tied for second-most in the tournament with five others -- and had three assists.
