Ben Simmons' pro career got off to a rocky start Monday.

The Philadelphia 76ers forward, the No. 1 overall pick in last month's NBA Draft, left his first summer league game in the fourth quarter due to cramping in both legs.

Simmons did not return to action in the 76ers' 102-94 loss to the Boston Celtics at Salt Lake City, and he won't play in Philadelphia's game against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, the Sixers announced.

"That's the worst I've ever cramped, so I'm definitely going to stay on (drinking more water)," Simmons said, according to ESPN.com.

Sixers summer coach Billy Lange added, "We might have been able to put him back in, but on July Fourth, we didn't need to create those fireworks. We've got a long summer league schedule ahead of us, between the rest of this summer league and (Las) Vegas. We said yesterday we were going to take it smart from here on out."

Simmons, a 19-year-old Australian who spent one season at LSU, finished the night with 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Forward Jaylen Brown, selected third overall by the Celtics out of Cal, finished with 16 points and six rebounds.
