Daniel Berger cashes in, withdraws from WGC after tee shot

Daniel Berger withdrew from the WGC Bridgestone Invitational after his opening-round tee shot because of a shoulder injury.

By participating in the event, Berger earned $50,500, equivalent to the payout for a last-place finish in the star-studded tournament.

Berger said he was injured at the U.S. Open at Oakmont but expected to make it through the round.
