Kansas City Royals waive 2B Omar Infante

The Kansas City Royals requested unconditional release waivers on second baseman Omar Infante on Tuesday.

The Royals previously designated Infante for assignment last Wednesday.

Once he clears waivers, Infante is free to sign with any team of his choosing.

Infante, 34, was in the final season of a four-year, $30.25 million contract. He was batting just .239.
