Ben Simmons, the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday, participated in his first workout for any team this week when he met with officials from the Philadelphia 76ers.

Simmons, a 6-10 forward from LSU who played one season in Baton Rouge, had declined a previous request to work out for the 76ers, who won 10 games last season and finished 34 games out of playoff contention in the Eastern Conference.

Simmons provided his medical records and other background information at the meeting first reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Simmons would be the second player drafted first overall by the 76ers. Philadelphia drafted Allen Iverson No. 1 in 1996. The 76ers traded away the No. 1 pick in 1986.

The Los Angeles Lakers hold the second pick in the draft and are expected to select Duke forward Brandon Ingram. The Boston Celtics have the third pick and Phoenix picks fourth.
