The New York Yankees addressed their woes at first base by signing Ike Davis to a one-year contract on Monday.

The Yankees have seen a rash of injuries at that corner of the infield, most notably with veteran Mark Teixeira on the disabled list with a knee injury.

Davis is expected to platoon with Rob Refsnyder in the interim for the Yankees, who have seen first-base fill-ins Greg Bird and Dustin Ackley sidelined by season-ending shoulder surgeries. Journeyman Chris Parmelee suffered a pulled hamstring and is on the disabled list.

The 29-year-old Davis opted out of his minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate on Sunday. He batted .268 with four homers and 25 RBIs in 39 games with Round Rock.
