DraftKings and FanDuel, the two biggest daily fantasy sports companies, are in talks about a merger, several media outlets reported on Monday.

Both companies are battling legal challenges, but Bloomberg reported that merger talks have been going on for some time. However, the stories said there was no guarantee a deal will be consummated.

Representatives from the companies declined comment.

Investors in DraftKings and FanDuel, which are privately held, have been pushing a merger for some time, according to unidentified sources.

DraftKings and FanDuel have faced opposition in several states, with regulators claiming their products amount to illegal gambling.

In March, the companies agreed to ban New York residents from entering their online games.
