The Jacksonville Jaguars are hopeful injured first-round cornerback Jalen Ramsey "will play a lot" this year.

But another 2016 draft pick is out with an injury, a week after Ramsey suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee.

Seventh-round defensive end Jonathan Woodard injured his Achilles in phase two of on-field workouts and had surgery to repair the tendon, the team announced Monday. The pick from Central Arkansas will be placed on the physically unable to perform list and is expected to miss the 2016 season.

General manager Dave Caldwell told Peter King of TheMMQB.com he is confident the tests will come back positive after Ramsey, the No. 5 overall pick, sees Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion.

Ramsey was in Pensacola, Fla., on Monday to meet with the noted orthopedic surgeon.

Caldwell said Ramsey's knee injury is not as severe as the ACL tear 2015 first-round pick Dante Fowler Jr. suffered last May. The defensive end never played last season for the Jaguars.

"Jalen will play a lot of football for us this year," Caldwell told King. "It's not anywhere near as severe as Dante's."

Ramsey, 21, suffered a "small tear" to the meniscus in his right knee during phase two on-field workouts last week.

Ramsey signed his four-year rookie contract on Sunday. The deal is worth $23.35 million with a $15.18 million signing bonus, based on the NFL's slotting system for rookies.

Ramsey, a multi-talented cornerback/safety from Florida State, started all 41 games of his college career, posting 180 tackles, 23 pass break-ups, five sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
