The Kansas City Royals reinstated third baseman Mike Moustakas from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.

Moustakas, sidelined this month with a a small fracture in his left thumb, returned from his rehab assignment with Double-A Northwest Arkansas. He played in two rehab games, going 2-for-8 with an RBI.

Moustakas, 27, was in uniform for Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox.

Moustakas is hitting .258 with six doubles, seven home runs and 13 RBIs in his first 25 games this season. He hit .284 with 22 homers and 82 RBIs in 2015 when he was an All-Star for the first time.

To make room on the 25-man roster, the Royals optioned infielder Cheslor Cuthbert to Triple-A Omaha.

Cuthbert hit .255 with one homer and three RBIs in 13 starts in place of Moustakas.
