The Chicago Cubs signed six-time All-Star reliever Joe Nathan on Tuesday and placed him on the 60-day disabled list.

The 41-year-old Nathan underwent Tommy John elbow surgery in April, 2015 and hasn't pitched since. There is no timetable set for the right-hander's return.

Nathan has recorded 377 career saves, eighth most in baseball history.

He was a four-time All-Star during seven seasons with the Minnesota Twins from 2004-11. He also made the American League All-Star squad in both his seasons with the Texas Rangers (2012-13).

Nathan spent the past two seasons with the Detroit Tigers. He began his career with the San Francisco Giants in 1999.
