Fredi Gonzalez was fired by the Atlanta Braves after a league-worst 9-28 start to the 2016 season.

Brian Snitker was reportedly informed he would be promoted to interim manager Tuesday. Snitker is a former third base coach and current manager for the AAA affiliate Gwinnett Braves.

President of baseball operations John Hart has led a massive rebuild of the organization that includes a change at president, general manager and throughout the roster, which prompted reports of pending changes on the managerial staff.

John Schuerholz, a member of the organization since 1990, stepped down as team president in March.

The Braves are moving to a new stadium, SunTrust Park, to start the 2017 season.

After serving as manager of the Miami Marlins from 2006-2010, Gonzalez was hired by the Braves in 2011. The Braves appeared in the postseason in 2012 and 2013 but have not been back. He was 434-413 with the Braves.
