John Daly shot a 1-over-par 73 in his second round as member of the PGA Tour Champions at the Insperity Invitational and fell six shots behind co-leaders Jeff Maggert and Jesper Parnevik on Saturday in The Woodlands, Texas.

The popular Daly, a gallery favorite who turned 50 last month, is at 1 under heading into the final round on Sunday after making birdie on his final hole of the day. His last PGA Tour win came 12 years ago.

"I've gotta get some confidence with my putting," Daly said. "And my chip shots weren't that good. I'm 1 under and you never know what might happen tomorrow."

Daly plans to make a putter switch for the final round.

"I'm going to pull out another Scotty Cameron 8802 tomorrow," he said. "This one's a little lighter and greens are quick and I feel like my swing's getting a little long and might be decelerating.

"I've got a lot heavier one that might shorten my stroke. Might hit my line better."

Saturday's round started with a birdie at No. 1, but he ran into trouble starting at No. 8 and posted four bogeys in a row. He missed the green on three of the holes.

"That stretch at 8, 9, 10 and 11 was just bad execution," he said. "I hung in there, had some opportunities."

Daly shot a 70 in the first round of his Champions debut on Friday.
