ESPN's loss is NBC's gain.

The longtime voice and face of ESPN, Mike Tirico, is leaving for the Peacock. Tirico has been a mainstay at ESPN since 1991 and has been the play-by-play voice of "Monday Night Football" since 2006.

Tirico's work has spanned from NBA postseason games to college football to ESPN's golf and tennis coverage. He is expected to continue calling games through this year's NBA playoffs.

Sports Business Daily reports Tirico is expected to be the lead play-by-play voice on NBC's new "Thursday Night Football" games.

Tirico's role has yet to be defined NBC, which already has Al Michaels in the fold as well as Bob Costas.
