Connecticut women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma was hospitalized Saturday with an undisclosed illness.

Auriemma, 62, boarded a plane at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Conn. on Saturday morning. He deplaned prior to takeoff because he wasn't feeling well.

The university didn't reveal where Auriemma planned to travel and didn't provide an update of his condition. It did say he remains under observation and is resting comfortably.

"The university will have no further comment on this matter and we ask that people please respect the Auriemma family's privacy," said a school statement from Pat McKenna, the university's associate director of athletic communications.

Auriemma recently guided UConn to its 11th national championship.

His health has been an issue since that victory as he missed the victory parade in Hartford and then missed an event at the state Capitol where the team was being honored for its accomplishments.
