OAKLAND, Calif. -- Golden State star Stephen Curry suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of the Warriors' opener against the Houston Rockets of the Western Conference playoffs on Saturday.

The injury is not considered to be serious, but Curry did sit out the final 21:13 in the first-round game after his 24 points led the Warriors to a commanding lead.

The NBA's reigning Most Valuable Player twisted his right ankle defending Rockets star James Harden late in the second quarter and went to the locker room for examination.

Curry returned to play the first 2:47 of the third quarter before Warriors coach Steve Kerr abruptly called a timeout and took his star out of the game.

Shortly thereafter, Curry was sent back to the locker room and didn't return to the bench until after the fourth quarter began. He reportedly was available to return to the game.
