The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Velasco was with the Carolina Panthers the past two seasons, starting eight of 27 games.

In an 83-game NFL career, Velasco has started 38 times in seven years with the Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers and Panthers.

The 31-year-old Velasco, a former undrafted free agent, started 16 games at center for the Titans in 2012 and 11 for the Steelers in 2013. He joined the Panthers for the 2014 season.

With the Bills, Velasco is expected to vie for a reserve spot previously held by Kraig Urbik. Velasco can also play guard.
