The San Diego Chargers signed backup quarterback Bryn Renner to a contract Wednesday.
Renner, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound product out of North Carolina, initially signed as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2014. After being waived at the end of training camp, Renner joined the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League and then signed with the Baltimore Ravens in January 2015.
Renner began the 2015 season on Baltimore's practice squad before being promoted to the active roster in December. He was later released and ended the season on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad.
Renner was a three-year starter for the Tar Heels and left as the school's third-leading passer in yards (8,221), completions (668) and attempts (1,005).
