Stanford is expected to hire Jerod Haase, who has spent the past four seasons at Alabama-Birmingham, as the Cardinal's next head coach, according to reports Friday.

Haase, 41, has been the head coach at UAB where the Blazers went 26-7 in 2015-16 and won the Conference USA regular-season title before falling in the conference tournament. BYU beat UAB in the NIT first round.

Haase has compiled a record of 80-53 at UAB. He led the Blazers to the NCAA Tournament in 2015 when they knocked off No. 3 seed Iowa State in the first round.

Prior to UAB, Haase was an assistant coach under Roy Williams at Kansas and North Carolina for 12 seasons. He also played for Williams at Kansas.

Haase replaces Johnny Dawkins, who was fired last week after eight seasons.

This past season, the Cardinal finished 15-15 and missed out on an NIT bid despite being the defending champion. Dawkins compiled a 156-115 record at Stanford.
