Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey may be "playing hurt" again when his Fighting Irish take on the No. 1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels in Sunday's Elite Eight game.

Brey suffered a calf injury while jumping around early in the second half of sixth-seeded Notre Dame's thrilling 61-56 win over seventh-seeded Wisconsin on Friday night.

Brey hobbled through the stadium tunnel after the game with a bag of ice wrapped on his right calf.

"The whole second half, I'm limping around," Brey told reporters with a laugh after the game. "I played hurt. I played hurt.

"Trainer said I should be able to go Sunday. About the 15-minute mark I was excited and jumped up and I pulled a calf muscle. Thank God it wasn't Achilles. So little calf strain, no surgery needed, but I'm a little sore. I told the guys I'm the first one taped on Sunday."

Notre Dame and North Carolina played twice this season. The Irish won at home 80-76 and the Tar Heels easily won 78-47 in the semifinals of the ACC tournament.
