With Opening Day only two weeks away, the Los Angeles Dodgers are beginning to worry about outfielder Andre Ethier, who remained on crutches three days after fouling a pitch off his right shin.
The team scheduled Ethier to have a bone scan taken Monday.
He originally was expected to miss two or three days, but the pain has not subsided and the Dodgers want to make sure there is no long-term damage.
The 33-year-old left-handed hitter told the Los Angeles Times that his legs have been beaten up by similar incidents, but he had not felt pain like this before.
Manager Dave Roberts plans to use Ethier in the leadoff spot against right-handed pitchers, and expects him to be ready for Opening Day against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Ethier is unsure when he will be able to resume baseball activities.
