Forbes lists 19 NFL billionaire owners

Forbes has named 19 NFL owners as billionaires in the magazine's annual richest list released this week.

Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen tops the NFL list at $17.5 billion. Allen started Microsoft with Bill Gates, who remains the richest person in the world with a net worth of $75 billion.

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is second on the NFL list at $12 billion, followed by Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke ($7.7 billion).

Kroenke got approval in January to move his Rams from St. Louis to the Los Angeles area. He is building a $1.86 billion stadium in Inglewood, Calif. Kroenke also owns the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets and two soccer teams, the MLS Colorado Rapids and England's Arsenal.

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan ($5.9 billion) and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ($5 billion) round out the top five.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft ($4.9 billion), Buffalo Bills' Terry Pegula ($4 billion), New York Giants' Joan Tisch ($3.3 billion), Houston Texas' Bob McNair ($3.3 billion), Baltimore Ravens' Steve Bisciotti ($3 billion), Atlanta Falcons' Arthur Blank ($2.6 billion), Indianapolis Colts' Jim Irsay ($2.3 billion), Cleveland Browns' Jimmy Haslam ($2.3 billion), New Orleans Saints' Tom Benson ($2.2 billion), Washington Redskins' Dan Snyder ($2.2 billion), San Francisco 49ers' Denise York ($1.9 billion), Philadelphia Eagles' Jeff Lurie ($1.8 billion), San Diego Chargers' Dean Spanos ($1.7 billion) and Detroit Lions' Martha Ford ($1.3 billion) also made the Forbes list.

There are now 63 billionaires who own a franchise in a major sports league around the world, Forbes announced in the list released Tuesday.

Steve Ballmer is the world's richest sports team owner with a net worth of $23.5 billion. The former CEO of Microsoft, who left the company in 2014, paid $2 billion for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014 when the NBA forced the sale of the team after racist statements made by then-owner Donald Sterling.
