Lexi Thompson shot an eight-under 64 on Thursday to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Honda LPGA Thailand in Chonburi.

Thompson eagled her first hole of the day and was 3-under through the first two holes. The fourth-ranked player in the Rolex Rankings carded a pair of eagles and a pair of birdies in shooting a 6-under 30 on the front nine. Thompson added two more birdies on the back nine in a bogey-free round.

"I feel great," she said after her round. "I think I was just very confident out there. I committed to all my shots, just aiming at pins and focused on doing my routine, staying relaxed, and I think that's what helped me out the most."

Thompson missed a birdie putt on the 18th hole that would have tied the course record.

"Yeah, I didn't even know what the course record was, but I was just trying to fire at each pin, so I just played aggressive the whole day, tried to commit to every shot, do my routine and just be positive out there," Thompson said.

One shot off the pace was Q Baek, with fellow South Korean Amy Yang another shot back at 6-under. Spain's Azahara Munoz and South Korea's Jenny Shin are at 4-under.

Lewis had five bogeys on her round and played the four par-5s in 1-over.
