Miami Heat guard Beno Udrih needs season-ending right foot surgery, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.
Udrih hurt his foot Monday in Miami's win over the Indiana Pacers. An MRI exam Tuesday revealed an injury that will need to be surgically repaired, according to numerous media reports.
In 44 games this season between the two teams, Udrih averaged 4.7 points, 2.6 assists and 1.6 rebounds.
The 33-year-old is an 11-year NBA veteran who previously played for the San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings, Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic and New York Knicks. In 792 career games (272 starts), Udrih has averages of 8.5 points, 3.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds.
Rookie Josh Richardson figures to see his playing time increase in Udrih's absence. Richardson is averaging 2.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 12.6 minutes per game.
