San Diego Padres sign RHP Casey Janssen to minor league deal

The San Diego Padres signed veteran right-handed reliever Casey Janssen to a minor league contract Saturday.

Janssen, who has pitched for nine seasons in the majors with the Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals, was in spring training camp in Peoria, Ariz., on Saturday morning.

The 34-year-old Janssen was 2-5 with a 4.95 ERA over 40 innings in 48 games last season with the Nationals.

Janssen saved 81 games with a 2.94 ERA over 162 innings from 2012-14 with the Blue Jays.
