Davis, who turns 29 next month, will report to spring training with the major leaguers and be given an opportunity to make the squad.
Davis dealt with injuries last season and hit just three homers in 74 games with the Oakland Athletics. He missed a month with a quadriceps injury and underwent season-ending hip surgery in August.
Davis has a career batting average of .229 with 81 homers in six big-league seasons. He has played with the New York Mets and Pittsburgh in addition to Oakland.
