Houston Rockets guard James Harden, the runner-up to Curry in last year's MVP voting, is one of the eight participants in the 3-point contest, as is Curry's teammate, Klay Thompson. Harden has made 34.9 percent of his treys this season and Thompson is at 43.4 percent.

The skills competition will have a different look this season. Last year, only guards participated, but this year some big men will be on hand.

Besides Beverly and Green, the competition will include CJ McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers, Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics, Jordan Clarkson of the Los Angeles Lakers, Demarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings, Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Zach LaVine of the Minnesota Timberwolves won the slam-dunk contest last year, and he is back to defend his title.

He will be challenged by Denver Nuggets guard Will Barton, Orland Magic forward Aaron Gordon and Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond.

The three competitions will take place the day before the All-Star Game.
