Keyshawn Johnson not returning to ESPN

Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson reportedly will not be returning to ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" pregame show after nine years with the network.

According to SI.com, ESPN opted not to renew Johnson's contract following the conclusion of his contract, which ends at the end of this NFL season.

Johnson, 43, joined ESPN in 2007 as an NFL studio analyst on the same day he announced his retirement from the NFL. He has appeared on "Sunday NFL Countdown," "Monday Night Countdown" as well as draft and Super Bowl week coverage.

Johnson was the No. 1 overall pick by the New York Jets in the 1996 NFL Draft and played 11 seasons with four teams. He won a Super Bowl in the 2002 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to SI.com, Johnson could be a candidate for NFL Network or FOX Sports.
