SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- The Golden City is revving up for Super Bowl 50 with the help of Super Bowl City, a massive street festival on the waterfront.
Beginning Saturday, Market Street and The Embarcadero will be the center of the fair while the city welcomes thousands of spectators for the game.
Although the face-off between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers actually takes place in the neighboring town of Santa Clara, San Francisco is footing much of the bill, SB Nation said. Local taxpayers are paying $5 million of Super Bowl expenses, which includes a $12,000 security bill for a private NFL dinner at City Hall.
Super Bowl City is located about an hour from Santa Clara and features photo ops, food and the opportunity to see performances by Alicia Keys, Matt Nathanson, OneRepublic, The Band Perry and Chris Isaak on Saturday night.
The NFL-centric pavilion also includes a theme park at Moscone Center.
Super Bowl 50 will take place Sunday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Levi's Stadium. It will air on CBS.
