The Tampa Bay Rays and Colorado Rockies completed a trade that sends outfielder Corey Dickerson and minor-league third baseman Kevin Padlo to Tampa Bay and left-handed relief pitcher Jake McGee and minor-league right-hander German Marquez to Colorado, Fox Sports reported Friday.
When the Rockies signed free agent Gerardo Parra to a three-year, $26 million deal, it meant that one of the Colorado outfielders probably would not be retained. It turned out to be the 26-year-old Dickerson, who hit .304 with 10 homers in 65 games for the Rockies last season and batted .312 with 24 homers in 131 games in 2014.
The 19-year-old Padlo hit .257 with 11 homers in 2015, splitting the season between Class A Boise and Asheville.
McGee, 29, has pitched 260 innings with a 2.77 ERA and 319 strikeouts since coming into the league in 2010. He was 1-2 with a 2.41 ERA in 39 appearances for the Rays in 2015. McGee carries a $4.8 million salary for 2016 and will be a free agent after the 2017 season.
Marquez turns 21 in February and had a 3.56 ERA in 139 innings at high-Class A Charlotte last season.
