The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of all 15 members of Chip Kelly's coaching staff on Wednesday.
The newcomers are Curtis Modkins (offensive coordinator), Jim O'Neil (defensive coordinator), Ryan Day (quarterbacks), Bob Bicknell (wide receivers), Jeff Nixon (tight ends), Pat Flaherty (offensive line), Jerry Azzinaro (defensive line), Hardy Nickerson (inside linebackers), Jeff Hafley (defensive backs), Derius Swinton II (special teams coordinator) and Michael Clay (assistant special teams).
Holdovers from the previous staff are Tom Rathman (running backs), Eric Wolford (assistant offensive line), Mick Lombardi (offensive quality control) and Jason Tarver (outside linebackers).
Modkins, 45, was the running backs coach/run game coordinator with the Detroit Lions from 2013 to 2015. He spent three years with the Buffalo Bills (2010-12) as the offensive coordinator and running backs coach and as running backs coach with the Arizona Cardinals (2009) and Kansas City Chiefs (2008).
O'Neil, 37, joins the 49ers after spending the past two seasons (2014-15) in the same role with the Cleveland Browns. He also was linebackers coach for the Buffalo Bills in 2013, and defensive quality control/defensive backs coach and as assistant defensive backs coach for the New York Jets from 2009 to 2012.
Bicknell, 46, spent the past three years with the Philadelphia Eagles (2013-15) in the same role under Kelly. Nixon, 41, served as running backs coach for the Miami Dolphins for the past five years.
Flaherty, 59, was the offensive line coach for the New York Giants from 2004 to 2015. Lombardi, 27, has been with the 49ers for the past four years, but the 2016 season will be his first as offensive quality control coach.
Azzinaro, 57, was the assistant head coach/defensive line coach for the past three years under Kelly with the Eagles. He also worked on Kelly's staff at Oregon.
Hafley, 36, worked under O'Neil with the Browns for the past two seasons as secondary coach. Nickerson, 50, moves to the 49ers to coach inside linebackers after serving in the same role for the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Swinton II, 30, was an assistant special teams coach with the Chicago Bears in 2015 and the Denver Broncos in 2013-14. Clay, 25, also was part of Kelly's staff in Philadelphia as a special teams assistant.
