Kansas City Royals agree to two-year deal with CF Lorenzo Cain

The Kansas City Royals reportedly reached a two-year, $17 million deal with center fielder Lorenzo Cain on Friday.

Cain will receive $6.5 million this season and $11 million in 2017. The All-Star batted .307 last season while finishing third in American League MVP voting.

The two sides appeared headed to arbitration earlier in the day when Cain filed and requested $7.85 million in 2016. The Royals countered with $5 million.

Kansas City has been unable to reach a deal with third baseman Mike Moustakas. Kansas City offered $4.2 million in its arbitration filing and Moustakas is seeking $7 million.

The Royals reached a one-year deal with left-hander Danny Duffy worth $4.225 million.

Kansas City also reached agreements with outfielder Jarrod Dyson (1.725 million), catchers Drew Butera ($1,162,500) and Tony Cruz ($975,000) and right-handed reliever Louis Coleman ($725,000).
