Detroit Tigers sign Jose Iglesias, just J.D. Martinez left

The Detroit Tigers avoided arbitration with three of their four eligible players, signing shortstop Jose Iglesias, infielder Andrew Romine and lefty reliever Justin Wilson to one-year contracts.

The only arbitration-eligible player remaining to sign is outfielder J.D. Martinez.

Iglesias' deal was announced Friday afternoon, and the MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported it is worth $2.1 million and includes performance bonuses. The 26-year-old Iglesias hit .300 in 120 games this past season while playing all-star caliber defense.

Romine agreed on a one-year contract worth a $900,000 base salary, plus $25,000 in incentives based on games played on Thursday afternoon. The versatile 30-year-old was eligible for the first time and batted .255 with two home runs and 15 RBIs in 2015.

Wilson, who was acquired in December from the New York Yankees for two prospects, allowed 49 hits over 61 innings last season with 20 walks and 66 strikeouts. He agreed to a $1.525 million deal Wednesday.

Martinez hit 38 home runs and 102 RBIs this past season while hitting .282. According to Heyman, the 28-year-old Martinez filed at $8 million and the Tigers at $6 million.
