LANDOVER, Md. -- Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams' failure to emerge during the regular season was cited as one of the reasons for the offense's struggles.

The second-year receiver caught 50 passes for 483 yards and one touchdown, not the level of production the Packers were seeking as they tried to replace wide receiver Jordy Nelson.

On Sunday, however, Adams caught four passes for 48 yards and a touchdown before leaving in the second half due to a right knee injury.

"Davante's turning into Mr. January around here," Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers said after the Packers' 35-18 win over the Washington Redskins. "He had a couple of really nice catches."

Last January, Adams caught seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay's divisional-round win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Late in the second quarter Sunday, Adams had a 20-yard leaping catch down the left sideline to give the Packers a first down on the Washington 10-yard line.

"I got outside, saw the ball and knew I had to go up and get it," Adams said. "(The defender) made a play on it, too, but I was able to trap it on my pads and keep the drive alive."

Two plays later, Rodgers found Adams in the back of the end zone for a score with 28 seconds left in the half.

"Davante's really had his best two weeks of practice, and frankly we were anticipating him having a good night tonight," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "Hopefully his knee (is OK). We'll find out more tomorrow where he's at."

Packers notes

--The Packers' offensive line limited the Redskins to one sack, while the Green Bay defense got to quarterback Kirk Cousins six times for 59 yards and a fumble.

"Once you run that score up, putting pressure on the opposing quarterback is the biggest thing," said linebacker Mike Neal, who had two sacks, forced a fumble and recovered it. "We were able to create that pressure, and a lot of guys got a lot of hits."

--Wide receiver Randall Cobb caught three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown, and he ran the ball five times for 24 yards, adding to the totals of running backs Eddie Lacy (63 rushing yards) and James Starks (53 rushing yards).

"Randall had a great game moving around a lot, catching the ball and also running the ball out of the backfield," Rodgers said. "That was key for us."

Redskins notes

--Quarterback Kirk Cousins' first full season as a starter ended in with a loss, but he set several team passing records while guiding the Redskins to a division title. Now he is a free agent.

Cousins said, "(I feel) good about where this organization is headed and the nucleus of guys that we have." When asked specifically about free agency, he said: "I think I want to be where I am wanted, and you want to be with people who believe in you, and we are going to find out -- because we haven't discussed it much yet -- how much I am wanted here and where that'll go."

--The Redskins rushed for just 84 yards, 13 below their season average. Running back Alfred Morris had 11 carries for 50 yards, with a long of 19 yards.

"We just didn't make enough plays," Morris said. "We made mistakes, so kudos to their defense for sticking in there because at first we had the momentum on our side and they found a way to shift it."
