Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger went home sick Wednesday ahead of the team's first practice session in preparation for a pivotal regular-season finale against the Cleveland Browns.

Roethlisberger was not in the locker room Wednesday morning. The nature of his sickness is uncertain at this point.

The Steelers (9-6) need a win this Sunday, coupled with a loss by the New York Jets against the Buffalo Bills, in order to capture an AFC wild-card spot.

Roethlisberger struggled in last Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, throwing a pair of costly interceptions.

Roethlisberger, 33, has thrown for 3,584 yards, 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions this season.
