Indianapolis Colts sign QB Josh Freeman, Ryan Lindley

The Indianapolis Colts, faced with mounting injuries at quarterback, signed free agents Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley on Tuesday.

The Colts also promoted inside linebacker Amarlo Herrera to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, signed guard Kitt O'Brien to the practice squad and placed inside linebacker Josh McNary on injured reserve.

Veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has a right shoulder injury that could keep him out of Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans, Charlie Whitehurst (hamstring) was placed on injuried reserve getting hurt in Sunday's win over the Miami Dolphins and Andrew Luck (kidney, abdomen) remains doubtful to play.

Last week, the Colts signed Stephen Morris off the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad.

Freeman last played for the Brooklyn Bolts in the Fall Experimental Football League after being waived by the Dolphins before the start of the 2015 season. He started for four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one game for the Minnesota Vikings in 2013.

Lindley was with the New England Patriots during training camp earlier this season before he was waived Sept. 4. He has nine games of NFL experience, including six starts for the Arizona Cardinals, and has completed 134 of 264 passes for 1,314 yards with two touchdowns and 11 interceptions during the regular season. Lindley also started one postseason game for the Cardinals.

Herrera has spent most of the season on the Colts' practice squad. He played in two games this season.

McNary played in 13 games this year for the Colts and totaled 21 tackles on defense and five on special teams.
