METAIRIE, La. -- In allowing four touchdown passes to Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles in a 38-27 victory on Sunday, the Saints set an NFL record for most scoring passes allowed in a season.

The Saints had given up 39 touchdown passes going into the game, one shy of the mark set by the 1963 Denver Broncos.

The Saints tied the Broncos' dubious mark when Marqise Lee caught a two-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, then got the record on a six-yard toss from Bortles to Allen Hurns with 8:51 remaining in the third period.

Bortles later connected with Allen Robinson for a 90-yard scoring strike and added another touchdown to the Saints' total when he found Hurns for a 20-yarder with 73 seconds left in the game -- making it 43 touchdowns with one game left.

The Saints did intercept two of Bortles' passes in the first quarter, giving them eight for the season.

--The Saints got a lot of mileage out of running back Travaris Cadet on Sunday, only four days after claiming him off waivers.

Cadet, who played with the Saints from 2012-14, was not tendered an offer by the Saints last winter and eventually signed with the New England Patriots. He was waived early in the season and recently signed with the San Francisco 49ers, only to be cut again last week.

He joined the Saints for Thursday's practice and wound up catching three passes for a career-high 69 yards with a 44-yard touchdown in the win over the Jaguars. Cadet also started the game while C.J. Spiller, one of the Saints' high-priced free agent pickups this season, was a healthy inactive.

"He just had a few stops and came back," coach Sean Payton quipped about Cadet's return. "He's smart, so he's a quick study. When we claimed him, the feeling was he could have some type of package. We were able to get a couple of matchups that we liked.
