Hall of Famer pitcher John Smoltz will replace Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci on Fox Sports' lead television baseball crew, the network confirmed Tuesday.

The 48-year-old Smoltz, inducted into the Hall of Fame this past summer after a 21-year career on the mound, will join play-by-play announcer Joe Buck in the booth next season.

Smoltz has worked game for Fox the past few years and also has served an analyst for MLB Network and TBS.

The New York Daily News reported that Reynolds, a former major league infielder, and Verducci, a sports reporter and columnist, will be assigned to other duties at the network. Both had been lead analysts for Fox's World Series telecasts the past two years.

Reynolds and Verducci replaced longtime analyst Tim McCaver in 2013 after he departed.
