In 78 NFL career games and 48 starts, Clemons has 257 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Arians said an MRI on Monday revealed Mathieu's injury. Arians also said Mathieu's status for the beginning of the 2016 season is uncertain.

The 23-year-old Mathieu, known as the "Honey Badger," has 89 tackles, one sack and five interceptions this season.

Mathieu tore two left knee ligaments on Dec. 8, 2013. He returned to game action on Sept. 15, 2014.
