The Oakland A's added another veteran arm to their revamped bullpen, agreeing to a two-year, $10 million deal with right-hander John Axford on Wednesday, multiple media outlets reported.
Earlier this offseason, Oakland picked up right-handers Ryan Madson and Liam Hendricks as well as left-hander Marc Rzepczynski.
Axford, 32, became a free agent in late November when the Rockies outrighted him off the 40-man roster and he cleared waivers. He finished 25-for-31 in save chances for Colorado this year, compiling a 4-5 record and a 4.20 ERA in 60 relief appearances.
Axford has major league experience with the Milwaukee Brewers (2009-13), St. Louis Cardinals (2013), Cleveland Indians (2014), Pittsburgh Pirates (2014) and the Rockies (2015).
His best season was 2011, when he led the NL with 46 saves and had a 1.95 ERA for Milwaukee.
In 403 career appearances, he is 141-for-171 in save chances with a 28-28 record and a 3.52 ERA.
