Jets: 3 takeaways from week 13

What we learned about the Jets:

1. The Jets' defense survived the absence of cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Marcus Williams. In retrospect, the absence of Revis, who likely would have been assigned to cover Odell Beckham Jr., probably wouldn't have mattered as Beckham just has a way of making most cornerbacks look silly. However, the same can't be said of the rest of the Giants receivers, whose numbers pale by comparison to Beckham's stats. No. 2 receiver Rueben Randle finished with two catches for 22 yards, Hakeem Nicks had one catch for seven yards and Myles White had one catch for five yards.

2. This was very much a statement game. For the longest time, the Jets have been widely regarded as the Giants' "little brother." With their come-from-behind win, receiver Eric Decker is hoping that such talk ends. "This is a statement game for us as far as coming from behind and winning one," he said. "We know we made a bunch of mistakes and the Giants played well. To get the win is big time for us, and I thought a lot of guys stepped up."

3. The Giants' failed fourth-down play was the turning point for the Jets defense. On fourth-and-two, the Giants decided to go for it, a play that some on the Jets defense found insulting. So they rose to the occasion when Rontez Miles picked off the pass in the end zone. "We did a great job just throughout that drive," said defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. "They drove the ball the length of the field and we bowed up got a good stop and we got a turnover. You can't ask for anything better than that as a defense."

--DE Muhammad Wilkerson was noticeably absent from the game in the first quarter. When asked why he was on the sideline, Wilkerson declined to comment, as did Jets head coach Todd Bowles, but there was speculation by the television broadcast that Wilkerson had been late to a team meeting this week, leading to his benching in the first quarter.

--S Calvin Pryor suffered a stinger, but is not believed to be in jeopardy of missing next week's game against Tennessee. Pryor finished the game with four tackles, two solo and two pass break-ups.

--RB Chris Ivory's 10 carries were his second lowest total this season. In Week 11 against Houston, Ivory carried the ball just eight times, gaining 36 yards in that game.
