Ronda Rousey won't fight again, fellow MMA fighter Jose Aldo says

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- On the heels of a vicious defeat to Holly Holm, former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey will not return to fighting, predicts UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

"I think it's really hard for her to return to fighting," Aldo said.

Rousey is on a 6-month medical suspension and can only return to the ring if she passes a CT scan without signs of brain injury. Holm, a former boxer who transitioned to MMA, pummeled Rousey, who is known more for her wins on the ground, forcing submission rather than winning by punching power.

Aldo believes Rousey isn't skilled at winning fights against aggressive, standing fighters, and would be wise to avoid taking more punches to the face.

"Her career has taken a different direction," Aldo said. "If I'm making a lot of money doing movies or something else, I'd go that direction, too. Am I going to mess my face up getting punched in the face? You're crazy. In my opinion, I don't think [she fights again]. If she comes back, of course she can [win the title]. She was always a fighter, but if I were her, I wouldn't come back."

Rousey has largely avoided attention since the fight, only surfacing in an airport with a pillow covering her battered face. She had a torn lip that will require plastic surgery to repair.

A frequent social media poster, she's only provided fans one update on Instagram, with an image of a typed note.

"I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support," Rousey said. "I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I'm fine. As I had mentioned before, I'm going to take a little time, but I'll be back."
