The Miami Heat suspended guard Gerald Green for two games because of conduct detrimental to the team.

Green began serving the suspension immediately, sitting out Tuesday night's game at home with the Los Angeles Lakers. He'll also miss Thursday's game against the Utah Jazz.

"I want to apologize to my family, fans and the Heat organization," Green said. "I accept the suspension and look forward to rejoining my teammates this weekend."

The conduct that led to the suspension has not been specified. Green was briefly hospitalized last week and had not rejoined the team. No charges have been filed against Green.

After coming off the bench in Miami's first three games this season, he was absent for a Nov. 3 game with an illness and the next morning was taken from an apartment building by ambulance to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Police assisted fire department personnel in his transport.

Green averaged 10.3 points in the first three games. He signed with the Heat as a free agent in July.
