The New York Giants announced that defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is on the active roster for Sunday's game at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Pierre-Paul will play his first game of the season. He sustained a serious hand injury, including losing a finger, during a fireworks accident on July 4.
The team placed linebacker Jon Beason on injured reserve with knee and ankle injuries. New York also promoted cornerback Tramain Jacobs from the practice squad and waived defensive tackle Louis Nix.
It was believed that Pierre-Paul's injuries could cost him the entire season or perhaps his career. However, he returned to practice last week and expects to give the team's pass rush a lift.
Beason was ruled out of Sunday's game on Friday after missing another week of practice. However, a day later, the Giants officially decided Beason would miss the rest of the season.
---The New England Patriots activated offensive lineman Bryan Stork to the 53-man roster and placed offensive lineman Ryan Wendell on injured reserve.
Stork was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return on Sept. 9, prior to the first game of the season. He suffered a concussion in the preseason.
Wendell missed the first five games in 2015 due to an illness and then saw action as a reserve in the last two games. He suffered a knee injury and was limited all week in practice. He was listed as doubtful Friday.
The Patriots added linebacker Jamie Collins to their injury report with an illness. He is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the visiting Washington Redskins.
---The Buffalo Bills placed wide receiver Percy Harvin on season-ending injured reserve after a setback in his recovery from a knee injury.
The team also activated cornerback Leodis McKelvin to the 53-man roster from the reserve/non-football injury list.
There has been plenty of speculation about the 27-year-old Harvin over the past few weeks and one report suggested retirement was an option.
Harvin, who has not played a full 16-game schedule since 2011 with the Minnesota Vikings, is set to become a free agent after the season. He signed a one-year contract with the Bills during the offseason.
The Buffalo News reported Friday that Bills general manager Doug Whaley said IR could be an option for Harvin. Whaley told reporters that Harvin's knee had "flared up."
---The Chicago Bears ruled out injured running back Matt Forte and wide receiver Eddie Royal for Monday night's game at the San Diego Chargers.
Forte and Royal both have knee injuries.
---San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick takes issue with the reason given by head coach Jim Tomsula for his benching in favor of Blaine Gabbert starting against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
Kaepernick, speaking publicly for the first time since being benched, did not agree with the team's decision but said he was not going to complain.
Tomsula said Wednesday that he benched Kaepernick because "I want Colin to step back and breathe and look at things through a different lens."
Reporters asked Kaepernick on Friday whether he agreed with Tomsula's assessment.
"I'm not out of breath, so I don't understand that reference," Kaepernick said. "I don't believe in pressure. Pressure is not being prepared for what you want to do. To me, I've played full seasons and had success. Mentally, I've been through it before. I'm not incapable of going through this."
---The 49ers promoted cornerbacks Marcus Cromartie and Chris Davis to the active roster from the practice squad.
To make room on the roster, the running back Mike Davis was placed on the injured reserve/designated for return list and safety L.J. McCray went on injured reserve.
---The San Diego Chargers ruled out tackle King Dunlap (ankle) and inside linebacker Denzel Perryman (biceps) from playing Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.
San Diego also announced that inside linebacker Manti Te'o did not participate in practice Saturday due to an ankle injury.
---The Miami Dolphins activated running back Jay Ajayi from the injured reserve/designated for return list.
To make room on the roster for Ajayi, the Dolphins waived center Sam Brenner.
Ajayi was the second of four fifth-round selections by Miami in the 2015 NFL draft out of Boise State.
---The Washington Redskins added nose tackle Terrance Knighton to its injury report by declaring him out for Sunday's game at the New England Patriots.
Knighton, who is having migraines, did not travel with the team Saturday.
Washington also placed linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat on injured reserve and promoted linebacker Houston Bates from the practice squad to the active roster.
---Green Bay Packers wide receiver Ty Montgomery (ankle) and cornerbacks Quinten Rollins (neck) and Sam Shields (shoulder) were downgraded to doubtful on the team's injury report for Sunday's game at the Carolina Panthers.
The team added tackle Bryan Bulaga (knee), guard T.J. Lang (illness) and linebacker Mike Neal (hip) to its injury report. Bulaga and Lang are probable while Neal is questionable.
---Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters was ruled out from playing Sunday's game at the Dallas Cowboys.
The team downgraded Peters to out on Saturday. He has a back injury.
---The Tennessee Titans waived running back Terrance West.
The team also promoted cornerback B.W. Webb from the practice squad to take West's roster spot. Webb is needed with veteran corner Jason McCourty (groin) downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.
West, a third-round pick who led the Cleveland Browns with 673 rushing yards last year as a rookie, was traded before this season for a conditional 2016 seventh-rounder. He had just 16 carries for 51 yards in two games for the Titans and hasn't played since Week 2.
---The Indianapolis Colts held a players-only meeting last week, and one of the concerns was that the front office was forcing coach Chuck Pagano to make lineup changes, the Indianapolis Star reported.
It has been a difficult season so far for the Colts, who are 3-5 but still tied for first place in the AFC South. Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton was fired recently, and players were concerned that distractions might affect their play.
The meeting was held to try to get the focus back on football. But the most revealing aspect of the meeting, according to the report, were suggestions that Pagano's moves are not entirely his.
Dating to last season, according to the report, Colts players sometimes approached coaches with ideas, only to be told the coaches could not act on those suggestions "because of forces beyond their control."
---Donovan McNabb, who played quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles in 11 of his 13 NFL seasons, will serve 18 days of a 90-day sentence in jail after pleading guilty to non-extreme DUI.
The incident took place last June 28 in Gilbert, Ariz. Police determined that the 38-year-old McNabb, who is scheduled to begin his sentence on Nov. 30, was "impaired by alcohol."
After the 18-day jail sentence, McNabb will be under house arrest for the rest of his sentence.
