"This morning we were informed that Gerald Green was admitted into the hospital. Right now our concerns are with Gerald and we have no further comment at this time," the team statement said.

According to the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, a person familiar with Green's hospitalization said Heat teammate Mario Chalmers, who lives nearby, was with Green when an ambulance transported Green to the hospital.

Green, 29, was not with the Heat in Tuesday night's 98-92 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, sitting out with an illness, the team announced.

Green has averaged 10.3 points in three games with the Heat. He signed a one-year veteran-minimum contract with the Heat in July.

The Heat did not practice Wednesday and were scheduled to fly later to play in Minnesota on Thursday night.
