The second round of the 2015 Frys.com Open in Napa, Calif., was completed Friday with Brendan Steele atop the leaderboard for the second consecutive day.

In its eight-year history, the tournament has yielded only one wire-to-wire winner -- Rocco Mediate in 2010.

Steele tied the course record with a 63 in his opening round then followed with a 70 in the second to lead four players by two -- Will Wilcox (67), Jhonattan Vegas (71), Graham DeLaet (68) and Harold Varner III (70) -- after two rounds.

Wilcox is making his first Frys.com Open start, while Varner is a PGA Tour rookie.

Rory McIlroy, the No. 3 player in the world, was six shots behind after shooting 71 Friday on the heels of 68 in the first round.

The cut was set at 2-under 142, with 82 players from a field of 144 professionals advancing to Saturday.
