The Golden State Warriors apparently are close to adding veteran Ben Gordon to compete for a roster spot at training camp.

ESPN.com reported Thursday that a deal could be completed before the defending NBA champions begin preseason camp. Gordon has been working out for the team the past few days.

The Warriors currently have 13 players with guaranteed contracts, leaving two openings on the 15-man roster for the 2015-16 season.

The 32-year-old Gordon has played in 744 NBA games with the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte and Orlando Magic. His best years were with the Bulls, when averaged 21.4 points per game during the 2006-07 season and 20.7 points in 2008-09.

Last season, Gordon shot 36.1 percent from 3-point range while averaging 6.2 points in 56 games for the Magic.

Among the players Gordon will potentially compete against for the Warriors' final roster spots are Chris Babb, Jarell Eddie and Ian Clark, who has the most NBA experience of the three with 53 career games.
